So many superlatives have been used to describe Taormina that mine would be . . . well, "superfluous"! Suffice to say that it is the most beautiful place I've seen. This picture of the Bay of Taormina was taken from the balcony of our hotel (this was the splurge of our trip). Taken at dusk, it shows a parade of boats to commemorate the festival of their patron saint. Part of the event involved a fireworks show which from our elevation was below us. This is a case where the memories are more vivid than the photos.

I certainly remember that windy road between Taormina and Giardini Naxos. You need nerves of steel.
Looks like a spectacular place!
I like the idea of Sicilian driving skills (well probably Mediterrainian ones!). I think "show no weakness" is the key!
Living in the Alps, I know well that narrow roads with great landscape and no possible parking are a hell for the driver, especially when it happens to be a photographer at the same time !
Obviously a wonderful vacation. We sent our daughter to Sicily for a summer when she was 13. She loved Taormina...
