"Bangkok." Bangkok by JenOliver

Richard and I visited Thailand for the first time last year. We started off in Bangkok and stayed at the Royal Orchid Sheraton by the river in their club rooms.
We were with some frinds of our - Carole and Gary who had been there befor so they showed us all the good places to go. We had 4 nights there but I could have stayed there longer. Maybe next time!

The Grand Palace

If you go to Bangkok you must see the Grand Palace, the klongs, Wat Po, Jim Thompson's house.
You should eat in the Harmonique restaurant which is within walking distance of the Royal Orchid Sheraton.

That famouse bridge!

If you have time to take a day trip from Bangkok then you must go to the River Kwai and see the bridge and ride on the train. Also the museum and cemetery at Kanchanaburi can be taken in on that day trip. Don't go on an organised tour - get a private trip organised - with four or more of you it is just as cheap and you can choose where to stop and for how long.
Something else I would do if I went back is to visit the floating market.

• Pros:Bangkok is full of fascinating people and places
• Cons:It is very busy and noisy, but like nowhere else I have been.
• In a nutshell:Bangkok is a must to visit if you are in Thailand.
