Me at Bratan lake
Buyan and Tamblingan Lake in the map are close to famous lake of Bratan. These two lakes are quite close to each other. We didn’t have a chance to be in a lake side of these two lakes. When we left Bratan lake on the way to Gitgit, the view of Buyan lake is beautiful. There are some spots to stop and enjoying the lake view.
Bratan lake
Bratan Lake is the second largest lake in Bali. The lake is situated near Bedugul area in central Bali. The area is beautiful and peaceful. You can rent a boat to go to other side of lake where there is resort (I was curious to go to the resort, but time was not enough). There is a big Pura in the lake side and there are restaurants and hotels in this area.
Directions: In Bedugul area
Purification in Tirta Empul, Tampak Siring
Tampak Siring is a former president Soekarno’s palace. The place is beautiful. But, when I went there, I couldn’t enter the palace. But, don’t worry, there is also Pura there and the area is pretty big to walk around. One of the famous Puras is Tirta Empul. You can see men and women doing ritual by having a dip in a crystal clear pool. They are wearing traditional clothes, shower under tap water and doing some offering and other ritual. As a tourist, you are not expected to have a dip. Swimming is forbidden there, also using any detergent that can pollute water. The place is very peaceful and the beauty of the ritual still stay in my thought.
ricefields
Beautiful ricefields are mostly found in Ubud. Terasiring in Bahasa, or means terraces as traditional watering system for the ricefields. There is a famous spot in Ubud, where people usually stop by to take picture. But, if you want to enjoy more ricefields, you need to stay in Ubud and take a nice hike. It’s worth it!
pampering your self
With many spas are spread out in Bali, it is recommended to try at least one. I tried to squeeze my schedule fit in into spa treatment. But, since it’s impossible, I still managed to get full body massage. It was not in spa. There was small massage parlour in Ubud where they open until 9 PM. It costed me Rp 75,000 for one hour massage. It was so relaxing for my ache muscles.
illustration only
Middle class traveler can consider Nusa Dua to stay in Bali during vacation. Nusa Dua is definitely a place for people who wish luxury, in a package with facilities and gorgeous beach. The Nusa Dua complex comprised of several five stars hotels and the guard is not so welcoming you if you are not a guest or having a purpose to have meal in one of those hotels.
Garuda Wisnu Kencana
They said that Garuda Wisnu Kencana will be sort of Liberty statue of Bali. It is planned to be enormous big of status representing Vishnu God and the eagle. I couldn’t find any brochure on spot that explaining about this place. But, the process has not finished yet. This area is also complex of theater and galleries and also open space with overlooking to beach and city.
Uluwatu
Uluwatu is a famous spot and one of the must visited place in the southern part of Bali. The area is beautiful with scenery of Pura in the cliff with beautiful blue see. Before you enter Uluwatu, you are reminded to take off your belongings that can attract monkeys. Sun glasses, watch, earring, and any other things that monkeys think that it probably also works for them. To be honest, I am not so comfortably walking around with group of curious monkeys gathering around me. Sometimes you don’t know when they have mood swing. One cute action can lead to another aggressive action. But, apart of the monkeys, Uluwatu is simply beautiful. Surfers go to another part of Uluwatu which has high waves and suitable for surfing.
Bali Bombing monument
Bali Bombing shocked the world in 2002. It injured hundred people, mostly Australian. The tragedy was not only hurting Australian who have lost most their people, but also hurting us as Indonesian and human being. Bali tourism suffered after the bomb. The beautiful island that people called as paradise has lost its charm after the bombing.
When I stood in front of the monument, reading the name list classified under citizenship, I couldn’t help to feel emotional. I could imagine people who have lost their loved ones in this tragedy. The monument for me is not only reminding me about the shocking moment of the bombing, but it’s also as a reminder that terrorism and any related action is something that we condemn. And the actor is our common enemy…..they are enemy of human being who love and would love to live their life in peacefulness
Famous Kuta beach
Kuta is he most famous beach in Bali. This area is only 15 minute away from the airport, Ngurah Rai. The area also where hotels from lowest to highest class located, and don’t forget about 24 hours clubs. I think this is one of the few places in Indonesia where people can walk around comfortably in Bikini. You can also learn surfing here, swimming, sun bathing, etc. And if beach no longer attracts you, don’t worry, at least there are hundred of shops. Anything else? Why don’t try tattoo or Balinese massage. Kuta has something to offer to anyone.
Directions: Famous spot in Bali, 20 minute from airport. You wont lost!
