While studying in Sundsvall, Sweden as an exchange student for a semester, I and other exchange students in the program decided to take a weekend trip to Kiruna. Kiruna is a small town in northern Sweden, above the Arctic Circle (though we were lucky that it wasn't too cold on the weekend we visited!). It is home of the famous Ice Hotel (though there is an Ice Hotel in Canada too). The Sami people (a tribe of Nomadic people in Scandinavia) also live in that area. |

sourbugger Fri Jul 18, 2008 13:07 UTC i've fancied this trip for a long time - so thanks for the info | Jim_Eliason Sun Feb 18, 2007 13:29 UTC looks like a cool adventure (no pun intended)! | Pixiekatten Sun Nov 12, 2006 00:10 UTC Always wanted to go to the Ice Hotel. Seems very very cold tho! Greetings from the southern part of Sweden! :) | Sjalen Mon Jan 23, 2006 12:54 UTC Nice page! :) Although Kiruna DOES have public transport and is a town, not a little village. Maybe you're confusing it with Jukkasjärvi where the Ice hotel is? :) |
