We stayed at Country Club Castelfusano. This place has bungalows, small houses, and areas where you can leave a trailer or camp. We had bungalows, and each cabin had 4 people. It was cramped, but fun. Some people hated it, some guys even wrote a song about how crappy it was! "I don't want to take another shower here... The water's cold I really need a beer... I just want to go home, or at least into Rome..." But I loved Castelfusano. At night, the local Italians had parties at the pista out by the big pool, and I always went. Those parties were one of the highlights of my Rome trip. They'd have music and dancing, and the locals loved me! I always carried a Canadian flag, and the locals were always friendly to me because of it - they love Canadians! It was at one of those parties that I met the special Italian guy who would later inspire me to pursue my dream career again... Most of the people at Castelfusano were Italians - especially families and middle-aged people. But there were a lot of young people too.
Unique Qualities: There are 2 pools, one big and one small. We hated one of the lifeguards at the big pool (some referred to him as the Pool Nazi - he was on a power trip), but that didn't stop us from having fun. It's really nice to walk around the campground and chill out. Also, they sometimes have activities (such as karaoke) going on and bands playing at the pista and the area near the restaurant. The best thing is the parties out by the pista at night - so much fun! There was also a restaurant, pizzeria, ice cream bar, supermarket, laundromat, bazaar, and tennis courts.

Pop Inn Hostel: A funky youth hostel

Pop Inn hostel is very close to the Termini station so it's easy to get around Rome from there. The staff was friendly and helpful (they give you a map of Rome and recommendations for sight-seeing). The rooms were clean, but some of the bathrooms weren't great (one had a toilet that was near-impossible to flush and didn't have hot water in the shower, another one had a broken sink we couldn't use). I was in a mixed dorm with 5 or 6 beds). There are security lockers so you don't have to worry about valuables being stolen, and if you don't have a lock (or if the lock you brought doesn't fit), you can buy one from reception for about 5 Euros. The common room is quite funky and colourful and has a tv, but closes at 11pm. There is no curfew or lockout, and you can use your key card to get in at night (and if you have trouble with your card, just ring the buzzer and someone will let you in). Everyone gets free breakfast tickets for the length of their stay, you just bring the ticket to the cafe down the street (can't remember the name) and you get a free coffee and croissant/pastry.
Unique Qualities: I especially liked that the place was clean, safe, and very central. There were only a few minor setbacks (some bathrooms weren't in top condition and my lock didn't fit on the lockers so I had to buy one from reception) but as a whole, the hostel was worth staying in.

This place is clean and safe (security lockers are available), and there is 24 hour reception so no curfew/lockout. There is free breakfast, though the milk is often warm and there isn't much variety. Also, the breakfast only goes till a certain hour in the morning (I think it's 11am but I can't remember...). In the evenings there is also free pizza. Both of these are in the hostel bar/common room. The bar opens in the evening and you can buy tokens for drinks. It's easy to meet people thanks to the bar, of all the hostels I've stayed in, this was one of the most "social" ones. Also, my dorm mates were friendly and so were the staff. There is internet available but you have to pay. No elevator, but the stairs are wide enough to allow you to carry a suitcase up without any problems. The hostel itself is in a nice central location close to Termini.
Unique Qualities: This hostel is more luxurious than average and worth the higher price. Also, I especially liked that it was easy to meet people and socialize there.
