"Huge!!!" Whistler by etfromnc

Whistler Travel Guide: 288 reviews and 638 photos

Whistler is only about 75 miles north of Vancouver and is reputed to have some of the most reliable skiing in North America. If you attended the 2010 Winter Olympics, you may have reason to question that statement. Nevertheless, if you like big, ski Whistler. It is the largest ski resort in North America with over 8,000 acres to ski. The pace is a bit tougher than I am choosing these days but if you like to party-hard, 24x7, this may be the ski resort for you. No US ski resort even approaches it in size and few match its pace. It also offers glacier skiing, which is possible in Alaska but nowhere in the lower 48 states, so you may find all sorts of new adventures there.
The Peak-2-Peak gondola, which connects Whistler’s two mountaintops via a 2.73-mile long, 1,427-foot tall tram, allows access for both winter skiers and summer hikers—plus phenomenal views of the valley below.
Now that the Olympics are past, the pace may have slowed a bit and there might be some good deals there.
