What is the Northwest Angle?

The Northwest Angle is almost one of those places that you cannot get to from here. You can get there but you should start in Warroad or Baudette and you have to go by water, air, or Canada. There is no land connection between the remainder of the US and the Northwest Angle. It is about 60 miles (97 km) by road through Canada, if you are driving from Roseau or Warroad, or you can catch a float plane from Baudette or Warroad. You can also go by boat and there is a marine tour service.

Only the Best ...

There are 85 year-round residents of the Northwest Angle so you can see from that that I am not exaggerating about the remoteness of the location. As we used to say when I lived in North Dakota, "Only the best go North." Many of those 85 have been there all of their lives and hope to be there for the remainder of their life.
