My page title is the way that several people described Cannes, and each swore that they used that little catch-phrase long before our Secretary of State Clinton decided that this is what it takes. I suppose that it is rather small but in late June it was quite crowded and I cannot imagine what it must be like during the Film Festival. Nevertheless, the life long locals seemed to be very warm and cordial. I would like to go for a longer visit but it is not at the top of my list, more due to the weather than the people. If you go, Le Suquet might be a better place to get to know the real Cannes.
Cannes and Nice may probably be considered as the cornerstones of the French Riviera but, from my brief visits, I would characterize Cannes as Fantasyland and Nice as much more a place of the common people.
