    Apple Bee`s: wonderful friend-like atmosphere

Well, this restaurant is one of my favourite in Jeddah. I love its atmosphere, food and even the staff are friendly and fun to talk to.

I guess this place is American but it serves a variety of dishes, mexican, brazillian, italian and so on. The dessert menu is just aggressively delicious and so the juices.

There are two sections, smoking and non-smoking and only for families, that means single men are not allowed to be in unless they pretend to come with sisters, mothers (family-like,lol).

prices are about average to more expensive, range: SR45-SR70 per person and above inclusive of appetisers, the main course, juice, and dessert.

probably this place suits singles though families with children are welcome.

There is a bar-like section if you want to give yourself a sense of 'drinking'. when my sister goes nuts, she always wants to sit there, lol. well, i myself love the tall chairs and high decks. the whole place is generally decorated with classic and spare items, like books, tyres, signs, celebrity posters, very funky.

    Favorite Dish: Shrimps with spices
Blonde icecream for dessert...it is served in a hot pan, the icecream scoop at the top of the cake, then the waiter will pour the special sauce........shhhhsshhhh, and here you go enjoy the shishing noise;^)

always and always have great times over here!!!

nothing weighs out the good service and the friendly atmosphere. i went up to Friday's for the first time over here on a weekday and i like it so much. first because it was empty and free of kids' noise and staring looks of intrusive saudis, lol. second, the staff were friendly and welcoming that we exchanged emails and ended up taking pictures;^) well, the whole restaurant was mine anyway.
i felt home again. by that i mean, i felt like i was back in london again, with all the free spirit and spontaneity i had practised with a multi-cultural nationa over there back in london. tonight's experience just has made me miss london even more!
definitely would go for another ride;^)

Favorite Dish: i had BBQ chicken salad as an appetiser, chicken pasta as a main dish and chocolate brownies with icecream. i liked the salad and the desert which was huge!!!!!! though didn't enjoy the pasta much.
my sister had just chicken pieces with chips and oreo with icecream which was superb.
the prices are quite good compared to other big restaurant as chillies and apple bees, considering the big brownies i've got;^)
all this costed only SR135 incl of service.

i gotta tell you it's my favourite coffee shop to hang out around, not to drink coffee, i'm not a coffee or tea drinker. but i like this place so much for two reasons; the cosy sofas they have and the quiet music they play, both overlooking the seaside, just amazing.
i've been to different starbucks in jeddah though i haven't been to the biggest one yet ie in Tahlia st. the staff are always nice anywhere.

the tahlia branch has wireless connection so was told

big starbucks can be found in Tahlia, Iceland and Corniche. there are very smaller ones in city plaza, Hera Mall and other places

Favorite Dish: my favourite cold drink was vanilla frabaccino but i quit drinking it as it made me sick each time i had it:( though i used to like it a lot
usually i have chocolate brownies or muffins; and they have those chocolate bars with marshmellow i think which is good too

this is the restuarant i ever revere:D it's got all the qualities anyone can ever enjoy and look for in food; lavishly tasty, surprisingly affordable and friendly 'generous' staff ever.
it mainly serves take-away orders but there's usually an eat-in section that accommodates only men, in big branches only.
the popular food product that has boosted up the reputation of this saudi-owned chain of al-Baik restaurant is their roasted chicken with chips and garlic sauce. it's usually served as either half chicken or whole chicken. i absolutely love the skin.
there're other products like spicy chicken, chicken wraps and fillet and things i'm not aware of.
it's the best deal for your pocket, and everyone can just pass by and get some if you're in a chickeny mood today.
the speed of their service is immense; max 15 min unless on occasions like ramadan and hajj. and if you need more garlic sauce as it comes in separate little containers, you can always ask for more garlic and more bread and the staff will ALWAYS give you what you need. such well-managed business;^)
this restaurant can be found literally anywhere you go

Favorite Dish: the regular chicken of course;^)

i used to go to this place on and off whenever i crave it. i like the atmosphere, the staff are nice, and the menu has a good variety of taste at a reasonable cost for such an environment.
there are two branches; one in tahlia and the other one in hera mall but the latter was shut down for some reason. the tahlia branch is big and has a kids area so it's quite noisy and i tended to avoid it as much as i could but the other one was quite nice that you could listen to their TV programmes;^) i went out on a couple of nice outs with close friends, it was my best deal for such outs.

Favorite Dish: pizza with cheese and onion, and salad. they have this pizza, quite thick as much as i luv it with thick chopped frid onion.

this is a chain of family-owned restaurants that has grown, mashallah, to a big business. it's known for its grilled whole chicken served with tahina sauce and white flat bread. i absolutely like dipping the chicken in that sauce; crunchy tasty.
i have never eaten in one of al Tazaj restaurants but once and that was ages ago. usually i just have a take-away order so be able to lick my fingers after the meal, lol.
but the restaurant has two sections; for men only and the other one is mixed (family section). i highly recommend to have your meal somewhere else as this place always has kids making noise and sounds very irritating, but otherwise, it's very family-friendly and children-accepting

Favorite Dish: chicken with bread and tahina

i've been to this place probably twice or three times and i absolutely dislike it. it's very popular and most of my friends used to dine out there! the food is good but not extraordinary; it's just a mix of italian, mex and other international popular food, nothing specially made.
i hate this place because it's far from the city centre, down there, South Jeddah; and it's very busy and you got to wait in a queue for 30 min up to an hour if you don't book in advance.
the place, however, is well-decorated with traditonal carpets hanged everywhere and design i dont quite comprehend! but i got to admit, it has got this friendly nice atmosphere that make everyone pour in and around, regardless how freaking busy it may get.
the staff are nice but the food takes ages sometimes to be served due to the busy service of course.
it's not my favourite place anyway but nice for friends to get together

Favorite Dish: i think just a regular burgar...i really cant remember the menu! you can tell i wasn't that of an admirer!

  • Restaurant Name: Foul and Tameez

well, this is what every saudi breakfast and family dinner must have, otherwise, it will look very empty and spacy for nothing! Foul is smashed beans, originally imported from Egypt, i believe. Tamees is wide flat bread with tiny holes, come from Afghanistan, again I reckon! The two have just come together to be the Beloved dish of the Saudi masses,lol...well, literally speaking;^)
it's gone so adorable that one tamees costs SR1 and foul for 4 persons may cost SR3.

Favorite Dish: i'm allergic to Foul but certainly i luv tamees and especially it comes with all these weird flavours; tamees with gee, biscuit-like tamees, tamees with onion, tamees with some veggies!
my favourite is always gee tamees! and that goes with anything you eat absolutely, whether you're dipping into tahina sauce, biting olive bites or just playing with cheese;^)

Bukhari Rice and Grilled Chicken: National Dish-1

  • Restaurant Name: Bukhari Rice and Grilled Chicken

it's orange rice and grilled chicken, yes orange and chicken, as you can find tiny slices in the rice. it's named as Bukhari from Bukhara, a town in mid-Asia, so as it's widely known. i guess this dish had travelled with the pilgrims from Bukhara just to become one of the main dishes in western saudia. you can find this in any of these take-away local restaurants. they're quite obvious as you will see big steel machines for grilling chicken in rolls and rows.

they're not my favourite but i remember my grandma used to cook us Bukhari rice and chicken each time we visited even if that meant everyday; yes, it's that popular!

Favorite Dish: it usually comes with tomato and spicy sauce, and perhaps basic salad (onion and cucumber).
