Probably this is the most popular street in paris, very charming, yet very touristy! I've been there in a christmas time when it was fully lit and lively with colours. Big brands and the french perfume stores are all mainly located over here! Goodness! Once my friend and I were stopped by two tourists whom we thought to be beggars or thieves. They've asked to buy them Channel (or whatever) bag and wallets from the store. The store policy was not to sell two pieces of the same item. Imagine! They gave us 1500 euros!!! They didn't know us or asked for any guarantee! My friend and I could have just run away with this money and travel around France, lol. Got the sense how touristy is this place?? It's full of coffee shops and french crepe makers;) though pricy! We met two french gentlemen, who came up from nowhere, who warned us not to walk late evening around this area and not to show we were 'very' tourists in every possible sense! Lucky enough they even showed us around;) The road will be blocked and become pedestrian in the new year eve. Imagine!!! I just love this place when it's full of lights and it gives you easy access to Arc de Troimphe and everything around in Paris.

I was desperate to have a french tattoo and so asked everyone where to get one. Chatelet was the place! Although I haven't got my french tattoo (yet), it's a lively area; like Central Paris or something. This area is good to explore Parisian culture and the french lifestyle. There are few meusems and parks within a walking distance but didn't bother to visit until a french guy grabbed me and showed me around, lol.

I bet everyone fantasise their visiting and play-around in Disneyland, including me..you know kissing Mickey Mouse, hugging Bell and pushing away the Beast, and running after Aladdin and Abu,lol. I booked my ticket and my friend's online. And we stayed in a hotel in a Parisian suburb. So we saved time and money. Disneyland does have 4 or 5 hotels on-site but quite expensive At the entrance, couldn't see anything but endless queues! But we had an easy and relatively quick check-in. All what we had to do was to insert our ticket through the entrance machine and so to keep them for playing games later. We really saved so much time queuing! Our sight fell, first, on a train that went around the whole Disneyland and so that was quite good. It can transfer you from one area to another while enjoying the scenery. We had played some games. It was good as I was more attracted to the designs and architecture and buying Disney souviners than the games themselves, lol. However, the most thing I didn't like was the long queues. We had to queue for One hour and Half only to play One round in One for-children game:S That wasn't so good as it was freaking cold in December! At the end of the day, there was a parade showing the most popular Disney characters, the oldies and some newies;) though I didn't see Pochohantes* hehe. -Opening Times: vary depending on seasons and weekdays/ends -shops, restaurants, food stalls available everywhere but expensive so have your meals ready with you...and you could hardly to find available seats! too crowded. - Disneyland is divided into two major parks: the Theme Park and the Studio. There are different kind of tickets: daily or 3-day tickets for either one or both. We had one-day ticket for one site we could choose. We were recommended by the staff to choose the Theme Park as it was bigger than the studio and so much fun to see the shows and parades;) it was a nice experience to see the French Disney but it wasn't as dazzling as I imagined. Probably children would enjoy it more than adults (me);)

La Tour Effel or Eiffel Tower is divided into 3 floors for people to go to. The ticket price is distributed accordingly. First floor: E4.20 Second floor: E7.70 Top: E11 The ticket is cheap and worth it. In winter, there is a skating court for both children and adults on the first floor. There are cafes and restaurants as well but pricy. I don't know much history about this tower. But I did enjoy visiting it, touching it and watching it illuminating in the evening!!! You must see it at night. Usually it is lit with yellow or gold-like lights. Then it suddenly glamor with light blue lights. When my friend and I saw this, we went like.....'WOW!!!' with open mouths. I just loved it.

When I was in Saudi, I had a little museum of 3D Jigsaw puzzle in my bedroom. Notre-Dame was among my jigsaw figures. It was always a place I wanted to visit, to sit inside, to look around, and to touch its walls. Notre Dame church or 'Our Lady' is a must-see place in Paris. It is located on one of the two islands in Seine river, Paris. I am not Catholic or French. I am not even a Westerner but from Saudi Arabia but I just love watching the beauty of this architecture. If you are an architect, interior designer, traveler, photographer or even a writer, you got to see this place. Admission is free (unlike big churches in London where they charge people!!)

Sacre Coeur church is located on a high hill where you can see the whole of Paris. You have to climb up the hill for half an hour or so but it's worth it. I was told that we could've caught a tram or bus to the top of the hill for free but it was a long way from the metro station. I absolutely know nothing of its history as I'm more concerned with the architecture itself. The first time my eyes fell on it, i saw Taj Mahal with a French taste! Just loved it! When we visited, there was a presentation projected on a large transparent screen. That was impressive as the lights were dim and the place just felt so sacred! The surrounding area itself is nice and friendly. There're lots of souvenir stores, street market and painters. Admission: free Opening times: 6am-11pm

It is a nice trip to take a cruise around Seine the river. The trip usually lasts for one hour, starting from Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame and other attractions. The cruise also passes by many historical sightseeings such as the Latin Quater. There is a French guide who speaks mainly French and sometimes English. There is also immediate translation in 7 or 8 languages; Italian, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, English, Russian and others. The first cruise departs at 10:00 a.m until 9:00 p.m. Adult ticket: E9.50 If you have the Paris Visite card, you can get discount; buy the first ticket and get the second one 50%off. The cruise is nice to have a sense of French romance;)

vinc_bilb Wed Sep 17, 2008 15:37 UTC Always interesting to see my home country with external eyes. Regarding the "rude" frenchs, I think it was more true 10y ago, as a consequence somewhere of a lot of (some arrogant) US tourists. | mallyak Fri Nov 23, 2007 07:14 UTC No body is going to hand over 1500 Euros to me!You look innocent and trustworthy..I imagine. | mvtouring Tue Nov 13, 2007 19:44 UTC Only another 6 months and I am there! ;-) | atufft Wed Oct 17, 2007 03:14 UTC Interesting fresh perspective on this great city! |
