AN INDIAN SUMMER?

by mickeyjane1 - last update: Jan 26, 2004

ANOTHER WORKING HOLIDAY

Actually this was the first time i had been to a longhaul destination. People told me you'll hate it and want to leave in the first 24 hours and then you will love it and remember it forever.

This is very true- first holiday somewhere tropical, i expected luxury hotel, gorgeous beaches and the rest of it.

When i got there what a shock! hotel extremely basic, beaches nice but" watch the sunbed- the cow has got her eye on it" I really wanted to say whens the next flight back to Manchester?

But the holiday was free - meant to be an educational checking out all the hotels, so may aswell stay.

I am so glad I did, now i know why Goa is our Top Destination sold in the agency year after year.

After the initial shock , i soon realised that this place was something else, waiters serving you drinks by the pool with the widest, brightest smiles you have ever seen, (you dont get that in the Boro), the little girl selling her bags up and down the beach all day always chatting and looking cheerful, and you couldnt help get attached to the cows and having names for them.

And not forgetting that in a week i found it hard to spend £150, and we were in a hotel on B&B, so we had to buy drinks and meals, and we ate in some really nice restaurants.

I stayed in a hotel called the Dom francisco in Candolim and yes it was basic but so what, it certainly didnt spoil our enjoyment and it was clean and in a really good location. Id definitely reccomend a holiday in Goa.
