Among the Canary Islands, we chose to spend a week in Gran Canaria considering that it is the most southern island and in April would have a fairly good weather than the others.
But most of all, I decided to go there to see the Dunes of Maspalomas, a one of its kind. It will remind you that a long, long time ago, this archipelago was part of continental Africa. It's topography, flora and fauna would also support the fact.
Indeed, a visit to Gran Canaria was an entire discovery of a very different taste of Spain. It is nothing like continental Spain, not at all, except that people are without a doubt Spanish (though they prefer to be referred to as Canarios!). |
