If Eiffel Tower is to Paris, then Colosseo or Coliseum is to Rome. Definitely the signature landmark of the city built almost 2,000 years ago as an arena for the gladiator combats. Been through worst disasters the last one in 1349 tore a good half of it.
It was only in the 18th century that the Romans had deep concerns of preserving it.
What is interesting in the Colosseo, at least to some botanist or plant lovers would be its flora. According to my Prof. in natural tourism, she did a good part of documenting the plants in the Colosseo as her dissertation. At present there are 242 species of plants while in 1855 there were 420. I honestly did not knew about it when I visited the place and went inside. At least I have another good reason to enter the place to check these flora.
Do take notice of these plants when you visit the place before these will become extinct.
