The many eruptions occurring for thousands of centuries in the south of the Cascade Range, out of Medicine Lake shield volcano gave birth to a rugged and desolate landscape, now included in Lava Beds National Monument.
Lava Beds National Monument was established in 1924 in the far north east corner of California, close to the Oregon border. It is not far from Crater Lake and from Lassen Volcanic parks. All of them can be visited on the same day if hurrying. |
