Lassen Volcanic National Park is located in the north of California and extends on the south part of the Cascade mountain range. Lassen is said to be one of the least visited National Park in the country. It is by far not as impressive as the Yellowstone but nevertheless has boiling mud pots, steaming ground, roaring fumaroles, and sulfurous gases. They are a testimony of intense volcanic activity. The last eruption at Lassen Peak occurred in May 1915.
Most of the Park stands at an elevation around 1,500 meters (5,000 feet) and the roads inside the Park are closed for several winter and spring month because of the snow. The southwest entrance stands at 2,042meters (6,700 feet). Lassen Peak itself stands at an elevation of 3,187 meters (10,457 feet).

Intersting tips
Lassen is one of those places that I have wanted to visit for quiet some time. Hopefully it will be part or a road trip next year. It was surely a bonus to find those old cars there. Great page.
Outstanding scenery and very cool antique cars, esp. the 1909 Buick. My very first car was a 1967 Buick Skylark with a huge engine, vinyl top, bucket seats and chrome mag wheels - a real beauty. Wish I still had it.
You were very fortunate to have those beautiful old cars stop in the park while you were examining the various vent holes!!
I had never heard of Lassen Vulcanic National Park before, but it looks like a nice place to visit. How lucky you were to see all these beautiful old cars!
Did you know there is a Smokey the Bear Historic Park in New Mexico? Thanks for the interesting page.
Bravo, Jean-Louis! The Volcanic National Park was interesting, but those old Veteran cars really are superb. How fortunate that you were there at the right time!
Oh fantastic!!These old cars really fit into the landscape! And it is hard to believe that some are more than 100 years old and still running! It makes me thinking of the arrogance of modern car designers... These old cars have been the real breakthrough!
