"Kioni, a dead end on Ithaki island" Kionion by JLBG

Kionion Travel Guide: 13 reviews and 32 photos

Kioni is a little village of 250 inhabitants, 5 km east to Frikes. As the ferries arrive in Frikes, most visitors do not come to Kioni which is a dead end. Thus, the village has kept its charm and remains rather quiet. Large yachts cannot anchor along the quays and thus most visitors are coming from very small yachts like ours or small motor-boats.

I do love the idea of fishermen whitewashing everything :) goes well with the blue of the sea!

Kionion looks like an idyllic place to spend a relaxing day or two bobbing on the waves! Great photos and descriptions of the ways of sea-farers too J-L!

Another charming and typical Greek Island. Sailing is such a great way to experience the isles.

What wonderful descriptions of this beautiful area. Seems so remote yet so much like the descriptions in much of mythology that I taught to high school students for years.

A lovely place to sail around and explore, with magnificent scenery too. And not so touristy as many Greek locations. I wonder whether the absence of women in the harbour is a reflection of the traditional belief that 'a woman's place is in the home'.

Interesting page about a village which kept its charm. I can imagine how pleasant it was to sail around this area! Amazing tip about painted boats, ha-ha! Thanks Jean-Louis for showing us this off the beaten path Greek area.
