Ready for lobster!

Restaurant Leut (again, in 2007!): Don't miss the lobsters!

Sorry for a second tip on Leut restaurant!

Favorite Dish: We happened to be in Cavtat in 2007 on May the 31th which was the anniversary of both of us (actually, mine was one week earlier but we always celebrate them together). That was of course an opportunity to have a nice meal with a lobster. When we arrived at Leut, there was a huge one, too large for two and small ones.

We asked for a table but they said “sorry, we are booked out by a whole 150 persons group. I insisted that they could find some space on the terrace and they finally agreed (BTW the group arrived while we were almost finished!).
As one red lobster was obviously not enough, we followed one of the Bobić brothers and had also a locust lobster. He was right and it was even tastier than the red lobster!

Of course, we had an excellent white one to wash the lobsters.

After a short rest, we drove to Mostar...

Restaurant Leut (2005): Restaurant Leut

Restaurant Leut is standing in the center of Cavtat, on a small square. They have an outside terrace on the square as well as an inside dining room. They had several living (really moving) lobsters in front of their window. Each summer, we enjoy having a lobster dinner once. We had planned to have a quick meal and drive to Dubrovnik but we could not resist to a nice lobster that waved at us !

It was the first private restaurant in Cavtat and after more than 30 years, it is still run by Family Bobiċ.

Leut is the name of the traditional fishing boat of Dalmatia. Other names are "liburna", "falkuċa" but I am not sure if they correspond to different shapes of boats or from different regions. A Leut is 7-12 m long and its width is 1/3 of its length. The old Leuts had 6 oars and a mast. They are still built with the same shape but are now engine powered.

Favorite Dish: They serve all the traditional Dalmatian seafood but we wanted only a light noon meal (haha !) and took only a salad and a grilled lobster, to share between both of us. And of course a bottle of white wine (that was not for us, that was for the lobster !). It was excellent !
