Pazin is a small industrial town of the center of Istria.
It has a castle (kastel) built around 1540 on the remains of an older one from the 10th century. The river Pazincica disappear in a chasm and form three lakes underneath the town. The Caves of Pazin (Pazinska jama) have given to french writer Jules Verne the idea, in his novel 'Mathias Sandorf', to have his heroe, a magyar rebel, escape to his persuers into the chasm and go out in the fjord of Lim !
Saint Nicolas church has a fine campanile.

When arriving in Pazin from Porec, you will encounter cement producing facilities which are the main industry in the town.
