I have now built a new Durrės page, based on my May 2007 visit.Durrės is the main harbor for Albania, only 39 km from the capital Tirana. It has close to 100,000 inhabitants and is the second largest city in Albania, after Tiranė. |
|  | Epidamnus was founded around 625 BC by the Corcyreans, who were the ancient inhabitants of the island of Corfu and by the Corinthians from the Greek city of Corinth. The Romans seized the city in the 3rd century BC and changed the name to Dyrrhachium which became later Durr?s in Albanese and Durrazzo in Italian. |
