Laconia - Prefecture of Laconia

Nome (Prefecture) of Laconia includes the two easternmost “digits” of the Peloponissos peninsula, framing the Lakonikos kolpos (Gulf of Laconia).

The western part of Prefecture of Laconia is Mani and I have reported it in another page, East Mani while West Mani belongs to the prefecture of Messini.

This page is about the eastern part of Laconia.

Laconia

The coast is scattered with small villages.
At the south end of the peninsula, Neapolis is the harbor for the shortest sailing to Kithira.
On the eastern coast, Monemvasia is the main city and a place for most sailings to Kithira.
