Getting TO/AROUND: In Marseille, the traffic is always heavy, and it is difficult to park. One has better to park ones car on the outskirts of the city and use public transportation that is very efficient, fast and cheap. The metro is very good and though it has only two lines, it allows traveling across the city very fast. It should be used as the priority mean of transport.

Getting TO/AROUND: There are many bus lines and the network is dense enough to reach easily any place in the city. Of course, as it has to cope with the traffic jams, it is not as fast as the metro but it is its perfect complement. It is possible to get a day pass (4 €uros) for bus and metro.

Getting TO/AROUND: Marseille has many connections with the whole Mediterranean. Ferries to Algiers and several Algerian harbors and to Tunis are almost daily but several other destinations can be reached from Marseille : the Balearics, Corsica, Sardinia, Crete, etc…

The waterfront would draw me to Marseille. Quite an extensive history, indeed.

Thanks Jean-Louis for bringing back memories about this wonderful city! My staying there was very short but I climbed up to the Notre-Dame though I had only 40 minutes ha-ha. What a coincidence right now I watch on TV a beach football match from Marseille
