Château du Haut-Kœnigsbourg

Château du Haut-Kœnigsbourg
Though Haut-Kœnigsbourg is one of the most visited sites in France outside Paris, it is not in VT location database. I have built my page under the nearby village of Orschwiller as Haut Kœnigsbourg castle stands on the territory of this community.

The Haut Kœnigsbourg castle stands on the Staufenberg, a rocky spur of the Vosges mountains and overhangs the plain of Alsace. It can be seen from far away and once you have seen it from the plain, you want to visit it.

Several web sites are dedicated to the Haut Kœnigsbourg castle. I will mention two, The official Haut Kœnigsbourg site and the school children's Haut Kœnigsbourg site built by the children of a scool in Sélestat that have dedicated one year to study the castle and build this site.

What a wonderful castle with a great view of the area. And you even discovered another smaller one nearby! Great page with beautiful photos.

Enjoyed the mysterious forest path photo. Your history of castle was terrific. Would you go back [without the dog] to see the inside?? The smaller castle above was a nice "find". Great work.
