Good traditionnal cooking - Paris
Polidor: Good traditionnal cooking Polidor Review

Polidor is typical old French restaurant. Don't be mislead by what is written on their front : it is a restaurant and not a "crémerie" ! At the back of the main dining room, they have a cupboard with brass labels were regular dinners used to put their table cloth, kept for each of them. You will not have your own table : they fill all tables with customers as they arrive. The cooking is good. I recommand the"blanquette de veau" (veal simmered in a lemon sprinkled white sauce)

They do not have a web site but this site will give you the opinion of customers and this one on the history of this restaurant.

February 2007: Thank you Mary (VT BeatChick) for giving me the link with the new website of Restaurant Polidor

My Tho restaurant - Paris

My Tho restaurant

My Tho: Vietnamian food

This is one of the few truly Vietnamian restaurants in Paris (sorry, I had to put it under "Chinese"). Most "Chinese" restaurants serve dishes from the far-east that can be from various regions of China, from Viet-Nam, from Cambodia, etc. Even Vietnamian restaurants serve undefined oriental food.

My Tho has a card which is 95% Vietnamian.

Favorite Dish: My Tho restaurant has, of course, nêms, as every "Chinese" restaurant serves nêms but nêms are actually a fully vietnamian dish.

Sorry, I do not remember exactly the names of the other dishes. You must go and try! Anyway, you will not be deceived!

They have imported bier from Viet Nam.

L'Écureuil, l'oie et le canard - Paris

L'Écureuil, l'oie et le canard

L'Écureuil, l'oie et le canard: South West France cooking

This is a small but excellent restaurant that prepares typical dishes from the south west of France.

Favorite Dish: They have an excellent cassoulet : beans are cooked and served with confit of duck or goose and Toulouse sausage. It is a really yummy dish but not for the weight watchers!

They serve also various dishes with of duck or goose including foie gras. Duck is tastier while goose is sweeter.

Seychelle islands cooking in Paris - Paris
Le Coco de mer: Seychelle islands cooking in Paris

This is the only restaurant in Paris that serve cooking from the Seychelles islands, mainly very fresh fish coming directly from the Seychelles. Try the grilled "bourgeois". The dishes are very tasty, not too hot. They have also various drinks from the Seychelles. I recommand the "rhum arrange". It is better to book in advance, especially if you want to be on the terrace, where the tables are set on sand (from the Seychelles ?!).
This site will give you the opinion of customers.

Traditionnal French food - Paris
Grand Bouillon Camille Chartier Bouillon Racine: Traditionnal French food Bouillon Racine Review

At the turn of the century (19th), several "Bouillons" opened in Paris. They were restaurant that served a cheap but good food to workers that could not go back home at noon. Few remain now. Bouillon Chartier, in the Montmartre district is one of them, Bouillon Racine another one. They serve good traditional food in a décor from the beginning on the 20th century. It is now a "fashionable" place but remain authentic.

Good Chinese food - Paris
Mirama: Good Chinese food Mirama Review

You might easily miss the Mirama as their window is small, on a very narrow pavement. Inside, though the two dining rooms are not very large, they can accommodate a hundred customers. Customers are Chinese and people that work in the district. They have excellent chinese food and the prices are very reasonable. Try the "canard laqué" (laqued duck) with fried noodles ! Though it is not far from Notre-Dame, you will not see any (or few) tourist.

They do not have a web site but this site will give you the opinion of customers .

Excellent traditionnal cooking - Paris
La Biche au Bois: Excellent traditionnal cooking La Biche au Bois Review

La Biche au Bois
• La Biche au Bois : very good French cooking. You must book several days in advance as it is always full and the restaurant room small. It is close to Gare de Lyon. I strongly recommend to those who enjoy good French traditional cooking at a reasonable price. The "Coq au vin" is a wonder (cock cooked in wine). During the game season, they have also excellent game dishes.
