Money on Paxos and other Paxoi Island, Greece General Tips

If you plan to use ATM's for cash, you should be aware that there aren't any outside Gaios (as at July 2003). We noticed on our last visit that more of the restaurants seem to be taking credit cards - Visa seems to be the most widely accepted.

You will need some cash for the smaller places and day-to-day purchases though and Paxos is one of the few places in the world where I would have no worries about taking a few hundred euros in cash and not needing a safe to keep it in.

Several places in Loggos and Lakka exchange cash or travellers cheques and seem to give a good rate, with a 1.5 - 2% commission charge.
