We travelled on to Kota Kinabalu after spending 5 nights in KL.

Following all the sightseeing and shopping we'd done in KL, we were looking forward to just spending some time relaxing on a beautiful beach, soaking up the sunshine and seeing the birds and animals that live in the forests and wetlands. We stayed at the Shangri-La Rasa Ria and were definitely not disappointed!

Although the hotel's about 30 minutes drive from KK, we didn't feel at all isolated. There is so much to see and do around the hotel and lots of organised daytrips to go on.

A shuttle bus runs into town about 4 times a day, so getting out to shop and eat is no problem, but although we drove through KK several times we only actually went into town once - we were pretty much "citied-out" after KL.

Hi, i've just read your about your trip. it sounds amazing! i'm actually going to Kota Kinabalu in january and staying at the Tanjung Aru resort. i was just wondering if you could tell me what its like and what to expect. thanks!
