The Town and port of San Remo, on the Ligurian Sea and on the Italian Riviera. It is a now slightly faded but once fashionable 19th century health resort.
It lies in that part of the Italian Riviera known as the Riviera dei Fiori, named for the flowers that are grown here
Famous residents include Alfred Nobel, inventor of explosives and the famous peace prize. Every year large quantities of flowers are sent by the authorities in San Remo adorn the annual Nobel Prize Award Ceremony in Stockholm. His home is now a municipal museum.
On Saturdays San Remo is turned over to the Market that runs on Friday in Ventimiglia.
Fridays Ventimiglia market moves on Saturdays to San Remo. Noise, colourful crowds, clothing bargains, african fake-goods sellers, hustle and bustle, its all part of the chaos
Shopping is fun, but beware the extended lunch break between what seems like twelve and three when the entire town shuts up shop.

Seems as though you are not too fond of Italy. On the flip side, I've always found it delightful.
