Mainz is the capital of Rheinland-Pfalz. What I like best about Mainz, is, that Mainz is in a certain way no capital, but a nice cozy town
It is situated on the river Rhine, just opposite to the capital of Hessen, Wiesbaden.
Don't miss the carnival in Mainz! It is one of the capitals of carnival! There are lots of parades. Make sure to be there in carnival time! Here a fool near the carnival fountain on Schillerplatz!

Well, it seems that I must go there Saturday as well, haha - I love these GOOD farmers' markets and the Girlande shop ahh yes. Oh, and maybe in december again, their Christmas market sounds lovely :-)

Interesting, supported by lovely photos.
Mainz is a fascinating city! I like the cathedral and the old buildings and I would visit the Gutenbergmuseum.
an interesting page & lovely pics ! So this is the home of the famous Mainzelmännchen - no wonder, even ordinary pubs look like churches and cheese comes with Music...
Yes, you can see the Cathedral from just about anyplace in Mainz, and it really does look different from each different angle.
Sure, you went to all the wine bars but you missed the ONE brewery in town. :S I'll have to come to West Germany sometime for the Handkaes and to make you drink beer. ;)
How happy I am to see Mainz again but through your pages! I remember everything, the great Square over the river Main, the great shops of Christmass, Hotel Rodos, and Dr.Mark Soibelman Dental clinic where I went to make a course! :-)))
I too would love walking down those narrow little streets, looking at the wonderful architecture, and the fountain is so beautiful, thanks Tessy :-)
Handkase mit Musik!! Great this time of year with Federweisse!! Mainz is a big City with a smaller feel to it. And surrounded by such beautiful Weinberge. Nice pictures.
