My trips to date so far.......

by don1dublin - last update: Sep 10, 2004

Hallllllooooooooooo

Best trips:

2001.....Flew into New York three weeks after Sept 11th and ended up staying in the states for around three months.....spent 2 months in NYC and travelled the rest. We travelled from NYC by bus to New Orleans then from New Orleans to Memphis by Amtrak and from Memphis to Chicago and back to NYC by Amtrak.....we (myself and a friend) ended up living in Dyckam street NYC for around 2 months with people we knew....had the time of my life..

Since then ive been to the states 4 other times.......3 times to New York City/New Jersey and once to California/San Fran/LA/Berkley/San Pablo/Napa Valley.

Crete.....great place great bars, beaches, hot sun, clubs, cafes etc.......Greeks where very friendly alot like the Irish.......made my way back to Greece last year and had a great time...but felt very old....lots of teenyboppers around.

Worst holiday- Tenerife in the canary islands.....dump....fights every nite in the town...dirty beach and restauraunts...apparently its all been cleaned up....couldnt see myself rushing back here.

Prague - great place, beutiful city and people....lots of history.........still dosent beat NYC though.

Glasgow/Gretna green.....was here 2 years ago doing best man for a friend of mine......wouldnt go back to Glasgow...reminds me of Dublin in the 80s.......would love to see Edinburagh some day.

Wales/England.....Havent seen too much of Wales and dont think I ever will......dont think I will ever venture back to England either.....too expensive and not as friendly as other places ive been too.....best place in England.....Manchester...people here nice pubs, clubs, shopping was great.........worst place was London....too big......trys too much to be like NYC....is a nitemare to get around...isnt safe at nite and can be very intimidating.

Portugal/Algarve....was here when I was in my early teens.....nice enough place...very similiar to the spanish resorts...lots of sun sea sand not alot else......

Ireland........

Galway City....good city...great pubs...very friendly place....(if your not from Dublin) great for a weekend and only a weekend. Some nice new restauraunts and cafes.....

Kilkenny City- Good bars/pubs....but not much else...very small city......was bored after a day as theres nothing to do other than get drunk. Well... ok there is Kilkenny castle and craft stores etc but these do be full of tourists.

Cork City - This slowly trails behind Dublin....starting to take off shops and pubs wise but isnt quite there yet...not a bad looking city.....good few interesting places to see in the surrounding areas :0)

Uranus....2003......dirty place...smelt like S***t

Places I would like to see and visit....

Thailand

Would love to goto Thailand some day and travel around the Islands...my brother has been a few times and loves it there......he says its a beutiful country..friendly people and is very very cheap......

Europe...Mainly eastern europe(cheaper)

Tallin
Warsaw.

USA........Florida and Key West.....San Dieago

An airport into Yosemite might be a challenging flight...almost like hiking El Capitan! Hope you had a good birthday. I'll have a cocktail for you tomorrow when I'm celebrating mine :)
