i had a very pleasant experience with the san remo in north beach. i found it to be really homey and just had an overall great feeling about the place.
the rooms are very simple. no bathrooms, no telephones, no televisions. sounds boring doenst it. it really wasnt that bad. i wouldnt want a hotel like that every night, but it was a good break from the norm.

Unique Qualities: i found the bathrooms to be the most unique quality of the hotel. there were bathrooms on every floor that u shared with everyone. they were very clean though and i had no problem with having to wait for showers or waiting to use the toilet.
the decor was also pretty cool. there were plants everywhere with vines running along the ceiling. the atmosphere was just excellent.
if u want a different hotel, that is very cheap, and in a great location. then i highly recommend the san remo.
