The Sutton Place Hotel - Vancouver: A quiet urban retreat.
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • We stayed here on our '03 visit and loved it. It's not much to look at from the outside, it sorta looks like a hospital, but once inside, it's calm, stately and dignified.
The room was quite large with floor to ceiling windows looking out over Robson street.
There was a nightly chocolate buffet that looked great, but by the time we got back from sightseeing and eating, we were too tired and full to partake!

Unique Qualities: The chocolate buffet! I still cannot believe that we didn't try it. We were just too full and tired.

Metropolitan Hotel Vancouver: Livin' large at the Met Compare Rates

  • Here's where we stayed before our cruise. A great location and wonderful service from the front desk crew and the door people. Extremely professional service! The rooms were nice, with plenty of storage area for all of our stuff.
My wife even sent the management a letter commending the staff on their professionalism and service.

Unique Qualities: Diva, the restaurant, was recommended by many people, including the front desk staff that raved about it. We learned that the chef was leaving soon to take over a hotel in Dubai.
We only had breakfast there, but it was outstanding. The croissant french toast was extraordinary. Service was also excellent.

  • You can’t miss the Pan Pacific hotel. It’s located in the Canada Place convention center that is also the cruise ship terminal. So it’s usually quite crowded…especially in the spring and summer.
We got a corner room, overlooking the harbor and downtown, and the views were incredible. You can feel almost overwhelmed with the size of the lobby here, but we found the service quite personal and friendly.
The room was quite large, the location is great for almost anything you want to do in the Vancouver area; the train station, ferry landing, and float planes are all within walking distance…actually, just about one block away! Also, you are right on the edge of Gastown, with its world famous steam clock (that was built in the 70’s).

Unique Qualities: The restaurants have some of the best views in the city, and while we didn’t enjoy any meals at them, we sat in the lounge and watched the planes take off and land in the water.
I would definitely recommend this hotel for conventions and especially if you’re taking a cruise.
Oh, another thing...the bathrooms had floor to ceiling windows, in the shower/bath, so you could bathe and watch the views. Nobody can see you though...we checked...and there is a curtain if you're still not sure.
