The Mission Statement. My wife and I have been traveling for about 6 years, but in that time, we've done pretty well...These pages will document where we've been and what we've seen. I guess that's kinda what everybody else does here, too, but hey, I'm new, and I want to feel special. |

Oaxaca 2005 Day of the Dead We spent a week in Oaxaca for the Day of the Dead festival and had a wonderful experience. The food, the people, the art, the sights, smells and the city itself were all major attractions. I'll be creating my Oaxaca page over the next few weeks... |
Vancouver 2003 (and 2004 and 2005!) Well, the wife and I took an Alaskan cruise out of Vancouver this summer (2004). We fell in love with this city on a trip here last year, so we decided to arrive a few days before our cruise departed so we could savor this city of the sea, skyscrapers and salmon. |
Benelux 2002 We traveled to Belgium and The Netherlands to end the wife's 4 week European business trip. We were hq'd in Antwerp and spent an evening in Brussels and Amsterdam. Antwerp is truly an underrated tourist town, with the wonderful old town center, amazing cathedral, and wind-ey cobblestone streets. It was a town that was never on my travel radar, but now, it is on the "return" list. Brussels was just a quick overnight trip. We mainly focused on the Grand Place area. Saw the Mannikin Pis, and ate mussels at Chez Leon, like all of the other good tourists. Amsterdam, on the other hand, was like taking the pilgrimage to Mecca. We can't wait to go back. We've even toyed with the possibility of moving there. We'll see... |

Singapore 2003 Again, I tagged along on another of the wife's business trips... I had 4 days in Singapore and was able to see most of what I wanted: Little India, Arab Street, Orchard Road, Chinatown, Night Safari, East Coast Seafood Center... You get the picture. Basically, we did a lot of shopping and eating. We even tried the famous (infamous?) durian. It smelled like dirty diapers, and kinda tasted like it too. Oh well, at least we can say we've had it. |
Chicago 2003 Well, let me start off by saying...I tagged along on one of the wife's business trips. Plus it was my birthday. We stayed at the Hotel Monaco and in the course of 3 days, hit most of the big tourist spots, and ate like kings. We even spent an evening watching McCoy Tyner headline at the Chicago Jazz Festival. |

Alaska 2004 We took an Alaskan cruise, leaving from Vancouver and stopping in Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, and Wrangell. We saw glaciers, fjords, salmon hatcheries, totem poles, icebergs, whales, eagles and brothels (old and historic, not in use!) Norwegian Cruise Lines took great care of us and kept us well fed on the boat. |
