Agurain, the basque name of Salvatierra Agurain is a small town in Araba, one of seven basque provinces. The walled village of Agurain constitutes a haughty monumental set. Though during the Carlist wars were destroyed nine doors and part of the walls, they preserve most of these and traces of the arches of the doors. Inside the all part, streets lead from the Church of San Juan to that of Santa Maria, placed in both ends of the village. The abundance of palaces raised between the SS. XIV-XVII, as the House of the Azkarraga and that of the Begoña, and the careful tracing of the streets they speak to us about a city rich and well governed for centuries. At present it enjoys a splendid offer of restaurants and of the most animated popular parties that are celebrated in Araba. In October, in addition, the Fair of Cattle is celebrated, with an antiquity of more than 600 years |
