Not really Paris

by misodiva - last update: Sep 15, 2006

Business Meeting

I stayed for two nights at the hotel and didn't leave it as I was in meetings all day. The food at the restaurant was amazing and the meeting room was like a palace. The rooms were very comfortable and cozy, but not that amazing, considering they cost 300+ a night. I did really love the bath amenities which were by Miller Harris. You can buy them online at Bigalow chemist, instead of the hotel and save money. Although the bath products are made exclusively for the Fairmont, and not available in the shops.

Hotel Claradon

Had one extra day and just spent it shopping and looking around. I really wish I had a guide book, and I couldn't find one in the shops. I wasn't sure what any of the buildings were or what there was to do besides eat and shop. There was certainly a lot of shopping and lots of neat things. Canadian jade jewlery from BC, maple syrup, art work, etc. Good place to buy gifts. The weather was also perfect, tee shirt and jeans without getting too hot or cold.

Being on the river and a bluff, there are lots of really nice views.

Most of the tourists I think are American, some Asian and Canadians. That was about all I could tell. I heard more French than I expected too, but everyone spoke English that I encountered in the tourist area. The TV had a lot of French channels and all I could find in English was the news.
