Russia is different, it is not like London, Paris or New York. In Russia the streets look normal, the people look more or less like the average American or South African, but that appearance is very misleading. The culture, way of thinking is totally different from the West and this is what makes this country so exciting and enchanting. Russian people are very warm and curious about our way of live. Unlike the French, they do not expect us to know their extremely difficult language, they learn ours.

Doing a river cruise was just an unforgetable experience. We flew into Moscow and then was taken by bus to board our ship the MS Andropov. This is not five star luxury, but we got excellent service from the crew. The food they served was traditional Russian food and sometimes they would include other European dishes. The soups were devine as well as the bread. Everyday we stopped at a different town and were taken on an excursion (free of charge) and lots of entertainment were provided on board the ship as well. Something I would recommend to everyone to do and a lovely way to see Russia
