A short train ride from Amsterdam in the town of Lisse is Keukenhof-the world's largest flower gardens. Keukenhof sits on 32 acres of immaculately cared for land. The colors of the flowers are some of the boldest and brightest that you may ever see. Even if you are not a flower enthusiast, Kuekenhof still warrants a visit.

Volendam makes a great day trip . Its a really beautiful area down at the harbour, especially if its a nice sunny day. Its great just to stroll around and I would recommend sitting eating a relaxing lunch on the harbour wall if its a good day! It is very touristy but you can see people there in traditional national costume

On the day tour to Vollendam you also visit the fishing village of Marken. An interesting place that was formerly on an island at sea. Now with land reclaiming, it is in the middle of a freshwater lake and you can drive all the way out. On the way you can experience the dykes and canals that make the Netherlands unique. Many of the houses are painted dark green with white horizontal stripes.

Although Holland does not have the world's most beautiful beaches, it can be good fun. It seem to be always crowded whenever there is a ray of sunshine.

There are various cheese farms around Amsterdam. I cannot remember which one we visited, but it was thoroughly enjoyfull and you could walk around nicely on the farm after tasting the various cheeses. I like the smoked and peppered one's.

there are not many working windmills left in Holland. Many of them have been converted to homes. This is a picture of one of the working one's.

We did Rotterdam as part of our day tour. Unfortunately we did not see that much of Rotterdam except for all the bridges, but lunch was good

Visiting a Delft porcelain factory is quite an experience and one which I really enjoyed, maybe because I use to do pottery with my friend and one of the things that amused us most was mixing the glazes for our pots. Watching these guys working just brought back wonderful memories to me.

A visit to Mardurudam just brings to life the child within you. What a delightfull little town this is, with all the lovely buildings in Holland replicated here to standard. I watched the people around me, and I did not see one sad or angry face. Everyone was just happy.
