The naval of the Earth is an essential experience when you are in Greece. It was extremely hot when we visited and summer had not yet arrived here, so in high summer I do not think I would like to visit this area. Situated high in the mountains, it has a beautiful view over the valley's down below.

The sanctuary of Apollo at Delphi extends over a series of terraces in the foothills of Mount Parnassos, between two enormous rocks, called the Phaidriades.
For many centuries this was the religious and spiritual centre of the ancient Greek world. According to mythology, Delphi was the geographical centre of the world, the omphalos ("navel"), the meeting point of two eagles dispatched by Zeus from the ends of the universe to find the centre of the world.

After the Acropolis, Delphi is the most popular archaeological site in Greece. Located 180 kilometers from Athens, a trip to Delphi is listed in just about every tour.

Delphi is inscribed on the World Heritage List of UNESCO in 1987.
