Our ship docked at Civitavecchia and from there we came by bus to Rome. It was a good one and half hour drive to get here. Rome the “Eternal city” is the capital of Italy and the Catholic Church. It is a modern, lively and very fashionable city. The Tiber river curves thru the city and Ancient Rome is situated on the left bank, as are the original Seven hills of Rome and the more modern shopping areas, while the Vatican city is on the right bank of the Tiber. The citizens of Rome still enjoy a relaxed way of life, and live and love life to its fullest. Rome is unique because of its many fine buildings that span so many centuries of history and it is richer in masterpieces, both architectural and artistic, than most other cities in the World. |

KavitaT Wed May 6, 2009 15:25 UTC Grand Hotel Tiberio was the worst part of our trip! The staff was rude, the room - more like a bad motel, any requests were ignored. Thank goodness everyone else and the city itself was so amazing! :) Go to Rome! But don't stay at Grand Hotel Tiberio. | starship Tue Feb 13, 2007 14:19 UTC Great tips! We'll be in Rome this summer before leaving on a Med. cruise. I see your cruise left from Barcelona. I just can't wait to leave! Hope your cruise was great! | ChristaV Wed Jun 14, 2006 05:35 UTC The Vatican is a very exciting and interesting place dont you agree? Lovely pics |
