I have always heard about this romantic city that was going to dissapear beneath the sea and my biggest worry was that I was not going to see it ever.
Fortunately like most things you read about in the news, you have to take it with a bag of salt and then add some some for good measure. I was told that this city has a bad odour, I however was probably very lucky and did not experience this at all.
My first memory of Venice was that this was a beautiful city with lots of canals, and it seemed like it was gonna rain forever. We had to cross the canal next to the St Lucia railstation to get to our hotel, but fortunately we found a great guy that helped us get to our hotel with our luggage and made sure we got booked in. Needless to say, I got lost a few times in the narrow alley's and the streets that run their own directions, but what a great place this was.
Second time around I was lucky and only had sunshine from the time we landed until we departed. This time around we stayed in a great place on the grand canal only 200 meters from St Lucia station.
Walk, walk and walk... and loose yourself in this amazing city, and when you are nice and tired, get into a water taxi and explore the city this way.

Venice is one of those cities that have a temperate climate. The average yearly temp is given as 14.5 degrees centigrade. Winters are rarely very cold and summers is not too hot. Rainfall season is from summer to autumn.
