Approx two to three hundred meters from the Ephesus museum you will come across a large hole, which turns into a pool of water in the spring months, this is where the temple of arthemis use o stand. Most of the remnants which have architectural value, and belonged to the temple are now in the British Museum. Some made of gold and ivory are in the Archaeology Museums in Istanbul and at Ephesus

This was constructed by Vedius Antonius and his wife in the 2nd century AD and was a small theatre used for plays and concerts, seating an audience of 1,500 people. It has 22 stairs conforming the shape of the theatre. The upper part was decorated with red granite pillars in the Corinthian style.

The rise in the street offers a great view before we arrived at the library. It must have been a wonderfull site in its hayday with all the romans wondering about in their traditional gear and all. I really enjoyed this view and could not wait to get to the bottom

Theodosius restored this temple in 391 A.D and opened it to the public in honour of his father General Theodosius who was hanged innocently. The ruins in front of the temple belonged to the the rich. The little sculptures of Medusa and other's on the second wall is really fantastic and worth a closer look

Now this is what everyone knows long before they even visit this site. The best known landmark of Turkey! C Julius had this library built in honour of his father C Celsus in the year 135 A.D. When you climb the nine stairs to the salon you will see four statues symbolizing Justice, Virtue, etc. The niches in the walls were used for books. The inscription at the northern end of the library is in Latin and another inscription at the southern end is in Greek and they are about Celsus and his son Aquila. Celsus grave can be found at the back.
