I live in the most beautiful country in the world and to top it all the most beautiful city in my country namely Cape Town. I lived in many areas of my country and started schooling in Namibia. I am actually a country pumpkin that migrated to the big city a few years ago. I studied at Cape Town Technicon and later at Stellenbosch University. I just love to travel and experience the different things that other countries have to offer me, a passion that was installed by my parents. As a youngster, we went to various places for our vacations, but when we grew up, my dad made us promise him that we would see and get to know our own country before venturing outside of the borders.
My other passions include (1) photography and my family calls me "The happy snappy jappy". (2) I also love people and (3) my doggie.
For more info on my country, please visit my South African page which I am in the process of building. It is an ever growing page as I will be adding more and more info as I travel around my country.
There are so many hiking trails in Cape Town and the surrounding area, that I think I must just dedicate a whole page to it. This picture was taken by my friends husband when they did one of the hikes on Table Mountain and had Campsbay underneath them.

Firstly it is the year that my country was hosting the Soccer World cup, so the vibe was very high here in South Africa and I we welcomed many visitors to our country. I had the pleasure of meeting some new VT friends and taking them around the Cape Peninsula. The Orange River (one of our biggest rivers) were in flood due to heavy rains up north, so beginning of March I took a drive to the Augrabies waterfalls which was fantastic. Visited many smaller town en-route which I have put tips on VT. In September I visited Germany & Ireland.
Well in 2008 I took a very long overseas vacation of just under 3 months and re-visiting Krakow, Budapest, Praha, Vienna, Salzburg, London, Berlin, Athens & Paris, Frankfurt and then some new places I visited were
Leighton Buzzard, Zakopane, Zentendre, Innsbruck, Koblenz, Chatre's, Versailles, Euro disney, Ruedesheim, Wiesbaden, Heidelberg, Titisee, Triberg, Freiburg, Ireland and the Greek islands of Astypalea & Rhodos and then Delphi on the Greek mainland. Almost needed a holiday after this, but my wish was granted as I got retrenched upon my return. That meant no more work related stresses and much more time for travelling.
So what happened in 2009?
the year started off by exploring a bit of my own country. First it was off to Margate & Durban in Kwazulu Natal, then to Port Alfred and the gorgous Addo Elephant park in the Eastern Cape province before we came back home. In June it is off to Belgium (to visit an old friend) where we visited Ghent, Antwerpen and Brugge & then off to the Netherlands. In the Netherlands we visited Utrecht, Gouda, Kinderdijk and Amsterdam.
In August I sett off to Bela-Bela in Northern Province and then went to Harrismith in the Free state. Also visited Sun City in August and in September it is off to Turkey on a fantastic tour with my friend. We visited Istanbul, Bursa, Iznik, Cumalikizik, Gordion, Ankara, Anit Kabir, Nevsehir,
Cappadocia, Zelve valley, Goreme, Sultanhani, Konya, Aspendos, Perge,
Antalya, Pamukkale, Kusadasi, Ephesus, Celcuk, Izmir, Pergamon, Asklepieon, Troy, Canakkale, Gallipoli peninsula, Anzac Cove and the Lone Pine cemetery
In April 2006 I visited:-
Buenos Aires - Argentina
Sao Paulo - Brazil
Colonia del Sacramento - Uruquay
Iguazu Falls - Argentina
Dec 2006
Romania:-
Bucharest
Brashov
Sighisoara
Busteni
Sinaia
Tirgoviste
Cazaci
Constanta

In 2007, I travelled local and explored my own country and some neighbouring countries.
April - Namibia
Sept - Kruger National Park and surrounding areas
June:
We visited beautifull Venice, then went for a week to Madonna di Campilio in the mountain areas of Italy, and although we could not ski we could still enjoy the forrest and lovely walks around the area, then we cruised the Mediteranean for another week departing from Barcelona on the Royal Caribbean lines and were spoilt. Felt like royalty. After that we spent a week in Pergignan in the South of France and explored that area before we returned to London for some shopping before we came back home.

19 - 22 June: Berlin, cultural hotspot of Germany with so much to offer and than I have wonderfull friends who live there, that also helps.
23 - 30 June: English Lake District with its beauty and of course Beatrix Potter and her lovely tales and sketches & London, which I just love and always will have good memories of.
October - Rio de Janeiro, pulsating heart of Brazil, what a wonderfull experience and what fantastic people who live there.
2004:
June 2004:-
London, what can I say, have friends and family here and it helps to keep my holiday costs down
Turkey:- I just love Turkey, its people, its excavations, its history you name it and I have always had a jully good time there. Will definately go back to visit in the future, still a lot to see and do. We stayed in Altinkum and Bodrum and visited Pamukkalae, Effesus, Prienne' Miletus, Soke & Didum
Christmas & New Year 2004/5:- London was rather cold, had sunny skies and no snow!.

Miss seeing you and your colourful Profile photo! Just thinking about your Nelson Mandela page after reading of his hospital treament this weekend.
We liked Dresden very much; especially the places around the city, like Meissen and Moritzburg-but then also Bayreuth and Bamberg to the east. Have a great time on your trip
I’ve just posted the VT MEET IN PARIS 21st and 22nd June 2012
21st June (the longest day of the year) for the Fete de la Musique.
This FREE event is not to be missed and you should expect music, dance, local food and many drinks along the way all night long.
Join me also on Friday 22nd June, to continue in the same rhythm – picnic and dancing along the river.
Time and place for both meets TBA.
Hope you can come
