Visiting the Mackdanz Family

Finally visiting Erik & Delta

Me and the Capital
I had agreed to visit my friends a number of times and never quite managed to make the trip. The kept moving although they kept moving westwards. Finally I managed to planba trip andvisited them in Austin, the cosmopolitan State Capital of Texas.

The journey took some 22 hours, via Boston and Dalls/Fort Worth going to them and about 21 hours travelling back to London via Dalls/Fort Worth and Chicago.

The journey was long and tiring, although it did give me an opprotunity to look at the many US citizens who were travelling by air. A somewhat weird and wonderful experience.

One of the things people must do when they visit Austin is have a brunch at the Kerbie Lane diner. It was a very busy diner, and we had to wait about 1 hour for a table. A tip for anyone who drinks coffee, ask for the Gourmet Coffee and you will at least get soemthing which does taste like coffee.

It had been some years since I had seen Erik, so we had quite a jolly time catching up. Although I do have to say that he had changed somewhat and was in fact a fairly normal American, if that sort of thing exists?

Delta & Erik

Here is a picture of both my friends, Erik and Delta. The picture was taken when Delta was in the late stages of pregnancy. They now have a daughter, Honor.

They have moved to another part of austin, since I last visited and I have yet to make plans for another trip. I am unsure when that will be as yet.
