I am not sure what can be done when you visit any city for merely a day. In this case it was only an afternoon as it took some time to travel by train from Delft. The city was interesting and was pleasant.
It does seem as if it was not quite what I expected. On the other hand, I did see stag parties, did seesome of the redlight district and after turning one corner did experience the smell from one of those "special Cafes". |
| | Ajax and the Amsterdam Arena The visit to the arena was both short and interesting. We did visit the Ajax Museum and saw the glories of years gone by; inclduing a selection of photgraphs of the old days. They used to have a Cricket section which was wound up in 1963 and a baseball section which finished in the early 1970s.
They of course are more know for their Football - winning ways and some of their former players. |
| | One canal looks much like many others I am no expert, and I am sure there will be people who can look at this kind of image and say that it is from.......whichever city it is. Sadly not me, and one canal looks much like anyother, in Holland at least.
However I can safely say that i found the canals in Amsterdam to be relaxing and pleasant, and had we had more time I would have taken a boat trip. |
