"Chester needs more than a day to visit!" Chester by gordonilla

Two colleagues and I took a trip to Chester; we had to visit a supplier of digital video equipment. It was my first time in the city and I had an enjoyable time. The city features from time to time in the UK soap opera "Hollyoaks".

The journey from London took slightly more than 2 hours, so it is certainly a destination I would go back to - I had very little time to see any of the sights;however, what little I did see impressed me.

I am sure many VTers would enjoy the city of Chester.

A Celebration of Chester by Stephen Broadbent

Although it was cold, the city centre was bustling and as could be expected, there were monuments and memorials scattered everywhere.

From the Celebration of Chester monument shown to the Chester Market Cross to the city walls and even a bronze of a baby Asian Elephant donated by the Chester Zoo.

The shops were busy and it all had a friendly and lively buzz in the air.

I took the opportunity to visit the Zoo; it was a good experience and I thought the gardens and enclosures were well considered. It was a crisp, chilly and fairly well lit day, which meant that many animals were outside or at least had an opportunity to go into the fresh air or not.

It was good to see an array of animals - and as I like elephants and giraffes I made sure I saw and took some photographs of them. I have tried to upload some videos but there seems to have a been a technical issue. I will try again. The elephants were a great attraction as there had been a new arrival in the October of 2010 (my visit was January 2011).
