Stockholm - for everyone

Sverige for the beginner!

Stockholm is an excellent place to visit, and no matter which time of year - you will enjoy the bars, restaurants and cafes......and the rollerblading???

This is just a minor update - I am visiting the city in early september and will ensure that there is a major revamp of these pages after that visit. For the time being, some more words about Stockholm!

It seems that style is almost everything in Stockholm; this of course is everything from this seasons colours for men and women, the design of the latest in fashion armchair or the newest and trendiest bar.

It seems that the precision and order which is part of the Sedish character ensures that most things are kept in oreder and no one will feel out of place in any public place. Unfortunately, society in Stockholm is changing, or so I am told both by friends and the media. These changes are showing themselves in a number of ways - muggings are taking place on the subway, the homeless are now more visible and of course the international art phenomenon known as tagging aka graffiti.

BUT DON'T WORRY - people have fun, go out to bars, restaurants, shows, cultural events and generally have lots of fun. the cultural side of Stockholm is alive, vibrant and well worth getting much closer to - you can check this out by picking up the monthly magazine produced by the tourist office " What's on - Stockholm".

Royal Palaces

Sweden is proud if it's Royal heritage, and there are many royal palaces to visit. This picture is me outside the Kungliga Slottet in the city centre.

My slight claim to fame here is - during one visit I was walking from my hotel to Gamla Stan, and was very surprised to see HM Carl-Gustav walking through the streets and he even said hello to me. Pretty funky really.

Lunch with Judy

This picture was taken in a restaurant in Gamla Stan (the Old Town) called Pontus in the Green House. Excellent food, drink, service and company...... I of course have to stay that I was not alone with Judy for this lunch, and was also in the company of David, Andy, George and Ken. There is in fact a series of photographs which merely transplants the male in the picture and Judy stays where she is sitting.
