Nyhavn on a Saturday afternoon in January I have always enjoyed the walk along Nyhavn, and athough it was January and cold, it was pleasant and very enjoyable.
The canal was dug in the 17th century to permit mariners and traders to bring their goods into the centre of the city. For many years the area has been a haunt of sailors and writers - notably hans Christian Andersen who lived at number 67 for twenty years.
The canal is lined with many restored buildings and is now a very well to do and expensive area to live in. There are many cafes and resaurants which are busy in summer or winter. |
| | The view from Rundetaarn (The Round Tower) Although I have visited the city several times, this was my first visit to Rundetaarn. The tower was built in the 17th century, and has a unique spiral walk - it is 209 m long and turns around the tower some 7.5 times. The viewing paltform is 34.8m above the street.

Copenhagen I have visited the city several times on business and on pleasure.
I have found it to be relaxing and very enjoyable.
Do have the boat trip and see the city from the water. The one thing you may be disappointed with is the view of the Little Mermaid. You will see her back and plenty of front views of other tourists photographing her. | | |
