Airport: Shuttle bus (limousine) AIRPORT-CITY
  • Tip Rating:
  • 'Mode': TO
    Category: Other
Getting TO/AROUND: There are several lines going to different directions to the city from airport. Be sure to show the correct area of you hotel to the staff at the station and choose the most convenient line for you.
The ticket price should be less than RMB20 (fixed) Sorry, I have never tried , I always take taxi or someone pick me up!

It takes about 30minutes to 1:30 to arrive in city, all depends on the traffic and the area you go.

    Public bus: Bus service
  • Tip Rating:
  • 'Mode': AROUND
    Category: Bus
Getting TO/AROUND: If you want to go to some tourist site around Beijing by bus , it's easy!
Logo on www.bjbus.com , click "english" , you can find how to go to various parts of great wall and other sites out of Beijing , also the ticket price is listed .
This service is run by Beijing municipal government, it's safe and reliable!

The site is quite clear, take the hot line number, ask the hotel staff to help you if you need information .

    Subway: Subway of Beijing
  • Tip Rating:
  • 'Mode': AROUND
    Category: Subway/Metro
Getting TO/AROUND: In my opinion the subway network of Beijing is not as great as Tokyo/Hongkong but it's the fastest, punctual, reliable, economic means of transportation touring Beijing .

Taxis: Going to great wall by taxi!
  • Tip Rating:
  • 'Mode': AROUND
    Category: Other
Getting TO/AROUND: If you are not travellig alone, sharing a taxi to great wall should be very convenient and time-saving.
I would recommend you to visit MU TIAN YU part which lies in the north of Beijing, about 1:20 minutes(one way) if no traffic.
This part has a fantastic panorama , less touristic , the ex president of Amercica Clinton has visited this part.
The rental fee for taxi should not exceed RMB500 for half day tour.

Rental Car: Rental car in China!
  • Tip Rating:
  • 'Mode': AROUND
    Category: Car/Motor Home
Getting TO/AROUND: If you are the first time visitor for Beijing as well as other part of China, I would not encourage you to choose rental car as the way touring the city!
The driving culture in China is quite new, there is tremendous increase of the car on road since these 3-4 years, at least 60% of the drivers are new drivers , I can't give too much compliments to our driving skills! Sincerely speaking , I would saying I don't enjoy driving in the city anymore , and I would dare to say that it is one of the difficult places in the world to drive.

The rental fee for a car is quite cheap, less than RMB300 for a day in general. I would suggest you to hire a taxi if you are a "luxury" traveller. You can get a taxi 8 hours reserved for you for leass than RMB600. It's more safe and you don't need to worry about parking!

Airplane: Travel by air in China!
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • 'Mode': AROUND
    Category: Airplane
Getting TO/AROUND: There are many local carriers in China, air network is generally speaking quite good and it is one of the most important way of transportation.
The quality of local airlines are not bad, safe/reliable/ good service /relatively new aircraft.
The air fare can be very cheap in some season when traffic is not busy, Beijing-Shanghai one way can get 50% discount for 1:30 flight time, which is about RMB500, just give you an idea.

I would suggest you arrange your internal flight locally, for sure you get better price than you buy it in your country!

    Have a nice trip!
