Estes Park is the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park. It is a lovely mountain town with incredible views, great shopping and a variety of places to grab a bite to eat. The town itself is quite small, but it expands beyond the main streets up into the mountains where many of the lodging choices are located. Wildlife is abundant and we were lucky enough to see elk wandering around town on multiple occasions.

The elevation of Estes Park is 7,522 ft above sea level. Some people have trouble staying at higher altitudes like this. It is suggested that you gradually work your way up to this height if you are altitude sensitive. However, we didn't feel any effect of altitude just in the town and surrounding areas.
