La Habra Corn Festival
In early August, the O.C city of La Habra gets some O.C. county attention with its annual Corn Festival. Three whole days of fun and festivity are held in the heart of LH- at El Centro-Lions Park, founds by the community group, La Habra Lions.
Though just one of several festivals taking place during the summer, it still does not get old coming out for a small town fair. The locals come out and get to know each other better, cute babies and kids show their smiling (and whiny) faces, people of all ages line up to get their fill on fattening fair food of the deep fried and sugary variety. Luckily for those who are health-conscious, the main feature of La Habra's fest is corn on the cob. OK, the butter brushed on it isn't the best thing but at least corn is a vegetable.
A parade takes place for one morning of the weekend event. This year, I saw the bands a marchin' and horseys a poopin' Thankfully, there was a lot of color to go with the typical parade affair. More to come in travelogues!
See you next year at the Corn Festival!
