Transportation: Avoid the Freeway Slowdown

Getting TO/AROUND: If you are visiting Costa Mesa, you'll most likely be using the 405 or 5 freeways which get so crowded during the week and on the weekend. On weekdays, it's best to avoid the freeway in the morning from 6-9 am and also in the evening from 4-6 pm.

Transportation: Ride the "57" for major C.M./S Coast Metro stops!

Getting TO/AROUND: If you have to "bus it" in Costa mesa as I would sometimes, you can travel easily each day on the "57" OCTA bus.

South Coast Metro's finest venue, the Orange County Performing Arts Center/Segestrom Hall is just walking distance from here. For shopping, South Coast Plaza, the beloved "Anti-Mall" shops and Fashion Island (few minutes away in Newport Beach) can all be reached along the 57. Ride time in Costa Mesa on this bus is just about 30 minutes.

    Check websites for schedule.

Transportation: Do Disney to Downtown Costa Mesa!
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]

Getting TO/AROUND: OK, so you are in Orange county without a car and after taking in Disneyland, you want to escape and experience non-Mickey Mouse diversion? Head on the OCTA 43 South from the main park entrance along Harbor Blvd. I have made this trip several times to arrive to Costa Mesa. It's one of the more common rides of the OCTA system. For travelling, there are late night routes serviced and each day the bus runs (check full schedule on OCTA.net). The final destination of the 43 is Triangle Square, which represents a very loose kind of downtown area where people gather for coffee, the movies and dining close to city buildings.
