Another View of Anaheim

by marinarena - last update: Jul 12, 2008

All of Anaheim...

Anaheim Hills, California
does not get attention- just that artifical wonderland that we all know and love, detest or feel some ambivalence towards (I lean towards the latter).

Pictured to the right is a pretty shot of Anaheim Hills, the residential part of Anaheim that makes a nice place to honeymoon actually or provides an alternative area just outside of D-Land geared towards adults.

Well, here , I'll try to cover as much non-Disneyland (or D-Land) stuff as possible. Disney practically owns the town, for the bad and good. The city takes on such a commercial feel -- this would be a negative. Yet Disney money does help rebuild and beautify the city--- this is a plus!!

Currently, I am right next door to Anaheim (living in northwest Orange), so expect more details of actual life here, such as, rating the local grocery stores or local boutiques and restaurants tips.
captured with Mickey, Disneyland, USA

Hey Mickey, Anaheim's nothing w/o u !

I made my way through Toontown with Rich to find the favorite one of the Magic Kingdom (no offense Mickey but, you don't even measure up to Goofy with whom I have been captured twice! See me in travelogues with Goofy!!

This is a classic shot of me and Inland Empire Richie...I believe from 1998 or so.
architecture inside Adventure Land, Disneyland

Balcony...

at the New Orleans Quarter in D- Land...

Things to note about Anaheim:

Anaheim is of a Spanish-German background Ana (common Spanish female name)+ Heim ("town" in German)

The city is the 10th largest in California, with about 330,000 residents.

Anaheim has a few international sister cities- Vitoria, Spain and Mito, Japan.

Regrettably, there is a connection to the Klux Klux Klan to Anaheim government, back in the early 19th century. Rest assured, Anaheim is nowadays a tolerant community with harmonious cultures of good people.

Pros:"much entertainment for those of all ages, good hospitality, Anaheim Angels!"
Cons:"city outside of D-Land resort needs more attention and some attractive improvement, traffic on Harbor Blvd and Katella Ave!"
In A Nutshell:"A hard -to-miss part of Orange County and California!"

Really enjoyed reading your page. Very interesting learning about non-Disney Anaheim. Can't wait to get back and see a bit more than just Disney.

This was a delightful look into a city I knew absolutely nothing about, &, before today, never really thought about exploring. This was a very enjoyable read.
